Starmus Festival

Starmus is a festival that gathers together astronomy, space science, art and music in the Canary Islands. Tenerife will host this event, between June 20 to 25 at Magma Arte y Congresos in Costa Adeje, where a tribute to Yuri Gagarin will take place, 50 years after being the first human to fly into the space. His partners and famous friends Buzz Aldrin, Jim Lovell, Bill Anders, Valentina Tereshkova and Alexei Leonov will be in a conference season Descubre el cosmos y cambia el mundo! (Discover the cosmos and change the world!) with three awarded scientists and researchers awarded with the Nobel Prize.

This meeting could be probably the greatest gathering of personalities related to astronomy and space exploration ever schedule in the whole world and will also show the artistic side of astronomy with astro-photography and space art exhibitions and a concert by Tangerine Dream. These pioneers of electronic music will work for the very first time with real sounds produced by stellar objects and they will have a special guest artist, Brian May, former guitarist of Queen and now an astrophysicist and speaker in one of the lectures.

Stars observation workshops and a SETI Zone together with conferences, exhibitions and concerts are in the schedule of the event conducted by Garik Israelian, Scientist at Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias and supported by IAC, Gran Telescopio Canarias (GTC), UNESCO, International Astronomical Union (IAU) and StarLight Foundation. www.starmus.com
