The Spanish restaurants which serve local specialties are definitely worth a visit. Try fresh sardines in a Canarian seafood restaurant. You’ll be hooked and probably never again feel like scooping their squashed counterparts out of a can. Papas Arugadas – little potatoes cooked in rock salt in their skins – served with mojo verde or garlic mayonnaise is another local favourite. In general, you will find the Canarian food to be simple and tasty.

Instead of a burger, why not try the local fast food like Arepas – a corn pancake, stuffed with shredded chicken, beef or cheese. Or treat yourself to a variety of tapas.
