Things to do in Lanzarote

Are you currently thinking about possibly taking a trip to Spain? If so, I would highly recommend that you check out the Island of Lanzarote while you are there! Lanzarote is a wonderful place to visit for a wide variety of reasons.

For starters, Lanzarote is an island which has volcanic origins. Therefore, this gives the island a very interesting and unique appearance. As a matter of fact, some visitors to Lanzarote say that that being on this island is pretty similar to what they would imagine being on the moon would be like! The reason for this is that much of the land in Lanzarote is now covered with volcanic lava and ash and there are also a variety of craters that cover the island.

Do you enjoy art? If so, then you will definitely want to make a visit to the Museum of Contemporary Art while you are visiting Lanzarote as there are many fine works of art displayed here. This museum is located inside an absolutely gorgeous castle known as the Castillo de San Juan. The San Gabriel and San Jose fortresses are also well worth checking out. Many years ago these fortresses were originally designed to help keep everyone safe from the pirates that used to try and attack the island on a regular basis.

The National Park of Timanfaya is also well worth making a visit to during your stay in Lanzarote. There are buses here that depart at frequent intervals throughout the day that you can take to explore this park. What’s even better is that if you are feeling especially adventurous, you can even rent a camel if you would like to ride one through the park! Another thing that is really neat is that there are a variety of restaurants located in the park, and some of these restaurants will be more than happy to grill any meat that you order over one of the volcanic craters that are located nearby.

Do you enjoy going to the beach? If so, I am sure you will be happy to learn that there are numerous beautiful beaches that are located in Lanzarote. If a beach that has a tropical feel to it is what you are looking for, then you are sure to love Playa Banca. If you are a big fan of water sports, then I would recommend that you check out La Isleta as it is not only beautiful here but it’s also a really popular place to participate in water sports such as fishing and diving, just to name a few.
